Press brake safety system AKAS®
On-the-fly safety solution for operator safety on press brakes
Press brakes are characterized by the fact that an intermediate sheet metal part is bent by moving a tool, usually the upper tool or bending punch, against a stationary tool (lower tool or die). In the case of small parts, small series or individual parts, the machine operator must hold and align the sheet metal parts by hand during the bending process. Hands and fingers are particularly at risk.
The AKAS® optical safety light grid prevents a body part from being crushed between the bending punch and the inserted material or the die
- Innovative finger protection for press brakes with leading laser-optical safety light grids in front of the upper tool
- Finger protection during operation with foot switch during the entire bending process
- Hands remain free for handling the blank. Even the smallest parts can be guided with the hands during the entire stroke
- Increased productivity thanks to programmable adaptation of AKAS® to the respective overtravel of the machine
- Short changeover times thanks to fully automatic changeover to other tool sizes
- Quick and easy changeover to other tool sizes thanks to the patent-pending adjustment device for press brake protection

The press brake guarding described here corresponds to
safety categories type 4 (IEC 61496), SIL 3 (IEC 61508), PL e (EN ISO 13849).
