The safety foot switch is an industrial control element with an integrated approval function (dead man's principle). The machine only runs as long as the switch is deliberately held in a defined operating position. The machine stops immediately if the switch is released or overpressed. A protective cover also prevents unintentional triggering. This ensures maximum safety while the operator's hands remain free.

The safety foot pedals of the FE-FS1 series are equipped with a safety element. They have a three-position overtravel module with pressure point and are used to control dangerous movements (e.g. lifting movements on presses). The pedals have two operating switches for controlling the bending movement and a safety switch module for stopping the closing movement. Actuation up to the pressure point switches the operating switches; once the pressure point has been overcome, they return to the idle state and the positive opening safety contact is activated. This immediately initiates the machine stop in the event of danger and provides redundant information for the safety circuit. The machine can only be restarted after the foot switch has been released.
The two-pedal safety foot pedals of the FE-FS2 series are equipped with safety switches. Depending on the model, the FE-FS1 series safety foot pedals are equipped with a two-stage pedal half and a pedal half with a three-position overtravel module and pressure point. The two-stage pedal half has a released and a depressed position and is typically used to select functions such as the AKAS® box bending function or to open a press. The second half of the pedal controls dangerous movements such as lifting or bending movements and is equipped with operating switches to control the bending movement and a safety switch module to stop the closing movement. If the pedal is actuated up to the pressure point, the working switches switch; once the pressure point has been overcome, they return to their idle state, while the positive opening safety contact is activated. This immediately triggers the machine stop in the event of danger and provides redundant feedback to the safety circuit. The machine can only be restarted after the foot switch has been completely released.
