Slack control systems are used to control the speed of consecutive machines (loop control). In order to keep the sag as constant as possible, two-point control is often not sufficient. The sensor measures the sag of a wire or hose and supplies an analog output signal for the control drive in proportion to its position. This ensures a constant sag. The light field is generated by a fluorescent lamp transmitter.
The optics of the receiver map this light field on a CCD line with 2048 elements. These elements are scanned periodically. If there is no object in the measuring field, all elements are illuminated.
The output voltage is 0 V. If one or more of these receiver diodes are shadowed by a wire, the circuit recognizes which of the diodes is not receiving any light. The output supplies an output voltage of 0 - 20 V analogous to the position of this shading.
The upper edge of the wire is decisive for the position signal. The measurement signal is displayed graphically with an LED line. In order to generate a homogeneous light field, the light transmitter is equipped with a fluorescent lamp operated by high frequency.
